Vsion of School in the Future

School normally runs 5 days out of the week and 7 hours a day. While this is the traditional method we have based school's schedule on, we see changes being made in the schedule as a whole. Schools in Colorado are now experimenting with a new method of school, they are having class 7.5 hours every day instead of the traditional 8 and are limiting it to 4 days instead of the normal 5 days a week.
The effect that is given to the students is somewhat positive in every way! Test scores have risen over the period ever since they decide to make the change."Our high school staff in particular said they saw students coming to school better prepared, with a better attitude about grades and wanting to excel," says Vern Hagen, superintendent of the Hot Springs, S.D., school district that just completed its second year on a four day schedule.
Joshua Carty, a high school who moved to the East Grand district in August, says the switch to a four day routine is fine with him, even if he doesn't get home until 7 p.m. from soccer practice. He gets more time on the weekends, and longer class periods can mean getting a head start on homework. But while the switch seems to be a success, there are still those who oppose.
Tim Koepke, a mechanical engineer on the Indian Peaks Charter School board says, "Our feeling was that the students lose a full day of instruction if they don't go to school on the fifth day and that the three day weekend was disruptive to the continuity of the learning process."
The fact of the matter is that "the jury is out." the general feeling is that students do no worse on the four day week than the traditional schedule. "At this point it looks like a great success," says Bruce Bradberry.

Most Important Habit

I believe that the most important habit is the 2nd which is to "Begin with the end in mind." I chose this one because i believe that everyone should have a goal to meet before even starting an issue or event. One cannot obtain any goal without setting one from the beginning! By having this plan, one will also have a purpose to meet his or her agenda from the beginning. One can have all the "kinks" worked out for the best and not worry bout anything standing in their way because they...had a plan and a purpose to get things done by having the end in mind.
A prime example is our government! Without a having a beginning with the end in mind would be catastrophic for all of us. Todays society as a whole is the same. Companies of small and large scale corporations need and have to have plans and goals to meet after every fiscal year, without them they are either a unsuccessful company that is quickly to be diminished or already has been.
The point in the matter is that without a plan in mind for the end result would be just bad business. One would never excel or know what the goals are until they are there right in front of them. It is best to always have a goal to meet with the end in mind without having in the in the first place. Ask yourself this, what would you have to lose if you did do it in the first place? And those are the reasons why it is best to have and end in mind.

Assignment 3

"The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that

you can do something, you can do it, as long as you believe 100%."

Arnold Schwarzenegger

I favor this quote for the fact that it says between the lines that the only person holding you back from obtaining your dreams is yourself. You have to believe within yourself 100% and also others to better help everyone, in everything you do! If everyone could obtain the mental strength to have the winning attitude before they even did anything in their lives it would, in the long run make us a better society.

"Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you were to die today."
This quote, I would say, defines me. It is good to live by this quote because in the end one will have a full and complete life full of experiences. It is good to take chances throughout your life and leave no "what-ifs." There's nothing wrong at all with dreams but it is up to you to make them come true; it's all based on one's determination!

Assignment 2

The best part of the project was possibly the commradery shared between the individuals who were paired together and the creativity and excitement put into making a product that would do well in the business environment.
The leadership was quickly found in the group after one or two persons had an logical idea of what to produce. Burns and I came up with the project while Will and Tanner put in valuable and helpful tips to making our project even more successful, such as how long the product would last and how fast it was to cut a persons grass.
If the project was dealt as a individual assignment I would have more than likely took more time to have a more in depth understanding of the whole assingment. I would have more than likely made the price range of the products available more higher than they were originally given out and possibly offered more optional requirements available also.
If the project was given again and I had the same exact group with us I would possibly advise the rest of the group to hit on a completly different subject matter, maybe something in the funiture, elctric, or even sporting fields. I would also make it my personal objective to insure within the others of the group that this is what we all wanted to do ( be a better overall manager!).
