Assignment 1

Leadership fails for numerous amount of reasons! One, because the ones who lead fail, they are human just as we all are. People look at sports stars more than any other group to find their ideal mentor. A strong and fast football player, a baseball star with perfect hand eye coordination, someone with mad skill on the basketball court, and even someone who always seems to hit that little white golf ball every time! They are faced with the same simple temptations we are faced with everyday of our god given lives! Whether they fall from their high pedestal because of adultery, cheating in their specific sport, or maybe even bank fraud, the point is that it’s all the same; the only difference is that its more publicly known.

When you ask why it fails, do we even stop to think of the message we’re sending our next generation. Countless teenage girls and boys see countless hours of TV every week! What do they watch. Reality TV shows that aren’t even close to reality or other shows that put this fantasy illusion within them. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m in no way bashing TV, for this is not what the topic of discussion is about, I’m just using it as an example of what people in general, not just adolescents, surround themselves with everyday.

It also may fail others because they do not have the “right” system or function for that set of people. It is up to the leader, or leaders to find what best fits the people as a whole. It is no use if the leader who is making all the rules just turns around and breaks them again and again. I personally believe that it is important to ask why, so we can better understand the issue whatever it may be, but I believe that we should spend a select amount of time on that topic of why and more on the way we can make it better.
